Hudson-Webber Foundation sends $3.6 million to 11 Detroit arts and neighborhood groups

The Hudson-Webber Foundation approved $3,605,000 in new grants to 11 Detroit organizations, announced July 23. MOCAD received a $200,000 operating grant for core operations and expanded programming. The Detroit Sound Conservancy received $100,000 for the redevelopment of the Blue Bird Inn as a neighborhood music venue and cultural institution. The Michigan Justice Fund received the largest award at $1,500,000.

Why we're watching: two of Detroit's cultural anchors just picked up money to keep their doors open and their work moving.
