Foxglove closed its 2025 season on September 20 by leaving the garden. The garden, the Leicester Court yard that has been Foxglove's home in the North End since 2023, only holds a few hundred people. Dreamtroit at 1331 Holden, in Milwaukee Junction, holds more.
So the season closer relocated. Eleven hours of day party, all vinyl, with Juan Atkins headlining and Stacey Hotwaxx Hale on the bill behind him. Atkins is one of the founding figures of Detroit techno.
Hotwaxx is one of the originators of house in the city. Both have been playing Detroit for decades. They were joined by LATEX GIRL, Rebecca Goldberg, Deon Jamar, insane who sane, and DJ 3000 across the day.
Three turntables, a vendor market in the courtyard, food vendors, and an open lot full of people who started showing up at noon. The choice to make the closer family-friendly was deliberate. Under 18 ran free.
Foxglove has always positioned itself as more community space than club. The garden parties at Leicester Court have hosted everyone from neighborhood kids to Movement-week tourists. Moving the closer to Dreamtroit didn't change the framing, just gave it more room.
The space at 1331 Holden has been hosting parties since the building's renovation, with Texture, Lena Willikens, Vladimir Ivkovic, and others all playing the room in the same year. Erika Linenfelser, Foxglove's cofounder and the person who runs the operation out of her own house, ran the closer the way she runs everything else. The four-point sound system Foxglove debuted at the 2024 Movement weekend party was set up at Dreamtroit for the day.
Vinyl-only sets. Selectors playing material they wouldn't pull out at a club. By the end of the night the warehouse was a different room than it had been at noon.
Six months later, in March 2026, Foxglove was telling Resident Advisor it might have to relocate. The city had denied a Movement permit for the 2026 season. The Dreamtroit closer turned out to be one of the last events Foxglove held at full scale.
At the time, nobody knew that. They were dancing. 1331 Holden, Detroit.
