Father Dukes played a Movement 2025 stage on May 24. She came out of Seraphine Collective's beatmatch brunches two years earlier.
Father Dukes is Hailey Dukes. Seraphine Collective is the Detroit crew that ran a series of Sunday morning events designed to get women and nonbinary DJs on decks in a low-pressure setting. Dukes started in one of those rooms. Two years later she was playing a Movement slot, opening for LTJ Bukem at Spot Lite, and headlining bills in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco.
Most DJ careers do not happen this fast, and the ones that do usually get there through social media virality or a coincidence of genre timing. Dukes did not take either of those shortcuts. She took the slower version of the fast version, which is playing a lot of sets in a lot of rooms over a couple of years and being demonstrably better at the end of the run than the beginning.
Metro Times ran her 2025 Movement preview. The Boiler Room sets are online.
Father Dukes' upcoming dates are on Resident Advisor.
